Tips for cooking rice varieties



General tips for cooking rice for pulav items:


  1. Soak the rice in one cup of water for 10 to 15 minutes. Use the soaked water for cooking the rice.
  2. If it is Raw rice use 2 ¾ cups of water, if it is Basmati rice use 1 ½ cup of water and if it is Jeera samba 2 cups of water for cooking. Put one tsp of oil while cooking the rice so that the rice may not stick with one another. 
  3. Take out the cooked rice from the cooking pan immediately after the pressure is out and loosen the rice with a spoon and allow it to come to room temperature. 
  4. If an Electric Rice cooker is used for cooking the Rice, use ¼ cup of water for each cup of measure greater than normal pressure cooking quantity for all of rice varieties mentioned above.
